Your data, plainly explained

What we collect

Party details you enter

The occasion, dish, guest count, dietary needs, and similar answers you give the planner. These are saved in your own browser (local storage) so you can pick up where you left off, and they're sent to our AI provider to generate your menu. We don't attach your name or email to them.

Your email address — only when you give it

We ask for your email in three places: to email you the party checklist, to email a shopping list to yourself, and if you opt in to occasional Dinner Caddy updates. If you don't enter an email, we never have one.

Shared menus

When you create a share link, the menu (its title, dishes, and shopping list — no email) is stored on our servers so whoever you send the link to can open it. Anyone with the link can view it, so only share menus you're comfortable making semi-public.

Basic usage analytics

We use Vercel's privacy-friendly analytics to see which pages get used. It's cookieless and doesn't build a profile of you or track you across other sites.

How we use it

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We use a few trusted service providers to run Dinner Caddy, and they only receive what they need:

Cookies & local storage

We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do use your browser's local storage to remember your in-progress menu and to pre-fill your email so you don't have to retype it. You can clear this anytime through your browser, or by using "Start over" in the app.

Email & your choices

Emails you request (a checklist or a shopping list you send yourself) are transactional — we send them because you asked. If you opt in to updates, every message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe here anytime. Unsubscribing from updates doesn't stop the one-off emails you request yourself.

Data retention & deletion

In-progress menus live in your browser until you clear them. Shared menus remain on our servers so their links keep working. To have a shared menu removed or to ask what we hold, email us and we'll take care of it.

Children

Dinner Caddy isn't directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Dinner Caddy means you accept the current version.
